Testing Information Alberta Class 5 Basic Driver's Licence
Class 5 Basic Drivers Licence
When you're ready for your class 5 non-probationary licence road test, you'll have already taken your class 7 knowledge test and held an Alberta Operator's Card (Alberta Driver's Licence) for at least one year. You may have practiced driving for a while now or even taken Driver's Education.

This licence will allow you to drive without having someone who has a Class 5 non-probationary licence with you.

    By reserving online with you can avoid making two trips to the registry.
    Schedule and purchase online through PayPal.
  • Step Two
    Don't forget to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled road test, which will allow you the time to obtain your prepaid test permit.
    Your road test cannot begin without a test permit, which will be paid for when you reserve your test online.
  • Step Three
    Take your road test. Good Luck!

    If you pass your road test, you can reclassify your existing Class 7 learner's licence to a Class 5 probationary licence.
